A one-day symposium of papers and screenings on the topic of cinema-going

The second symposium of the Irish Audiences Research network provided a showcase for emerging and established research in the area of cinema-going, cinema sites, cinema memory, oral histories. a range of international speakers which featured included Keynotes:

Jamie Terrill (Aberystwyth U) on cinema-going in rural Wales Daniel Treveri Gennari (Oxford Brookes; PI on AHRC-funded project “Mapping European Cinema”, and coordinator of 2016- Present Date: Coordinator of the HoMER Research Network (History of Moviegoing, Exhibition and Reception): “Inside and Outside Cinema Memories”.

Pierluigi Ercole (de Montfort U): “European Cinema Audiences”

The day also featured screenings of two short films on cinema-going memories and histories, including the CACSSS/Cork County Council/Creative Ireland funded film, “Movie Memories” by UCC researchers Dan O’Connell and Gwenda Young
